Which keywords will work for me?
If you've found a niche, done your research, and come up with keywords that you think will work for you, you may now be asking yourself, what if these keywords don't work for me? What if I picked all of the wrong words? How can I find the right words? You may even be wondering what others in your niche are using for keywords. If you haven't checked out your competition already, take some time to do that. It's always good to know who your competitors are and what they are doing.
What keywords are my competitors using?
Did you now that it is possible to find out what keywords your competitors are using?

While most of these sites are not free, some will allow a trial or even the option to "scan the surface," or allow you to get enough information to entice you to buy the product. In your browser simply enter "check out competitor's keywords," or something similar. There are many sites that will not only the names of your competitors, but their keywords, the ROI (Return of investments), which is the amount of profit from a particular keyword, the ad position, which is where a keyword is ranked, how many other people are advertising using the same keyword, how many clicks per day, and sometimes, the price per click.
This is a lot of information, and best of all it costs you nothing. It will not only help you determine what the most attractive keywords are, it will help you get an idea of what your competitors are using.
Can I afford the pricey keywords?
If you are a beginner, you may or may not have the money to shell out in the pricey keywords that the competition is using, but that doesn't mean that you can't get any traffic to your site-it just means that you have to be a little more creative. If you're working on a tight budget, here's where creative thinking comes into play.
If your niche is plants, for example, you can pretty much count on the obvious keywords such as plants ($0.97), indoor plants ($1.03), potted plants ($1.27) having a very high CPC or cost per click. What you may want to do is think about specific plants - spider plant ($0.37), aloe vera plant ($0.58)- or plants and health ($0.05), jade plant health ($0.05), plant ailments ($0.05).
After researching your competitors, you may want to go to one of the keyword suggestion tools and do more research. You may even find that you want to change some of your keywords. The most important thing to remember is that this is not something that's going to happen overnight. You have to take your time, do your research, and more research if needed. Finding the proper keywords will require some tweaking. It's all a process and whether you will be successful is determined by you, your motivation, and your consistency.
If you're just starting out and have limited funds, you don't want to spend your entire budget in one day. Careful planning and tracking will allow you to manage your money wisely, while ramping up your traffic.
